I started drawing and painting when I was a child and haven't stopped since then. In school I was only interested in drawing pictures in my exercise books and the teachers did not like it too much. But most were very understanding and some encouraged me to do so. Life so soon after the second world war was hard and it was my way to escape reality. I studied art in Germany and later in Scotland. I had exhibitions in Bulawayo, Stuttgart and in Gravesend, Kent and Greenwich near London. The picture on the right shows a scene from the town where I was born. If you read my books you will probably recognize the name Neckarhalde and the picture shows the lane leading up the vineyards of the Neckarhalde. |
